Internal Assessment
Types of Assessments
The students are assessed internally throughout the school year and their grades are recorded in Marksheets 1, 2 and 3. There are various formative and summative assessments that are administered for each subject area at different times according to the school’s policy.
The Formative assessments grades contribute 40% of the overall grades for all marksheets. There are categorized into two headings:
- Homework (10% )
- Classwork (30%)
The Summative assessments grades contribute 60% of the overall grades for all marksheets and these take the forms of tests.
MARKSHEETS
Marksheet One
This marksheet is prepared and distributed to all students at the middle of the first term (Michaelmas) in October.
Marksheet Two
This marksheet is prepared and distributed to all Forms 1 to 4 students at the end of the second term (Hilary) in March, but prepared and distributed to all Form 5 students by the middle of the second term in February.
Marksheet Three
This marksheet is prepared and distributed to all students except Form 5 students by the middle of the third term (Trinity) in May.
EXAMINATION
All examinations are marked out of 100%
Mock Examination
The Form 5 students write Mock examinations at the end of the second term in March. These examinations undertake the format of the CXC examinations.
End of Term Examination
All students write the end of term examination in December and a report is issued thereafter.
End of Year Examination
All students except the Form 5 students write the end of year examination in June and a report is issued thereafter.
